It’s often hard in landscape photography, especially with my style, to isolate your subjects, but a photographic composition will be much more powerful using the philosophy of Less is More. I like using wide angle lenses and with using wide angle lenses, it’s difficult to isolate your subject. The scene is often grand and filled with many different elements.

This weeks post image was taken in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The isolation and simplicity of this image, in my opinion, makes this a wonderful composition. While processing the image, I also thought it looked great as a black and white. Black and white photographs also thrive on the concept of less is more, focusing more on shape and texture, rather than color.
Give it a try, I bet you’ll like what you create.
